Bandung is a cultural platform for festivals and celebrations that are exclusive to the Java region of Indonesia. Asian African Carnival

In celebration of the Asian-Africa Conference of 1955, the Asian African Carnival maintains the spirit of unity developed at the conference and serves as a yearly reminder of the event. The carnival focuses on cultural and economic collaboration between Asian and African countries. A 2000-strong parade represents global cultures with brightly colored floats, dance troupes and music. The carnival also stages multiple cultural performances from Bandung and various participating countries from Africa.

Bandung Light Festival

This festival marks the anniversary of Bandung’s foundation. It presents itself as a lively event focused on local culture that differs in theme between years, with light shows, parades and other installations on display throughout the city. In addition to the displays, there is a culinary angle to the celebration that brings out the best of Bandung’s lip-smacking food and beverage scene – making it an unmissable celebration in everyone’s calendar.

The Festival of Bandung Lautan Api

Referred to in English as the Bandung Sea of Fire, this festival commemorates one of the biggest events in Indonesia’s history—the burning down of Bandung by the British in 1946. Held every March, the celebration begins with a torch relay that includes prominent public figures, members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, local government and more. The event also pays tribute to the country’s fallen heroes and war veterans.
