It goes without saying that Bali is a legendary destination for international tourists. It offers some of the best beaches and surf in Southeast Asia for on-water adrenaline sports.. The lively daytime and nightlife scenes are perfect for all ages, including families. Home to unique cultural experiences,  many locations are dedicated to the Balinese Hindu culture. Bali is also famous for its many spa treatments, including at five-star hotels and of course, the volcanic thermal springs. Those seeking a relaxing retreat can dip in and out of zen programs focused on renewal and natural flow – yoga is one such favorite.

Pura Luhur Uluwatu (Uluwatu Temple)

Commonly referred to as the Uluwatu Temple, this Balinese Hindu temple crowns a 70-meter-high cliff with a startling drop. The temple was established in the 11th century, likely an extension of an original structure. Though famous amongst tourists for its local folklore, a troop of monkeys steal the show. They are well known to snatch belongings from visitors, – and barter or trade for the return of stolen goods. An outdoor Kecak performance is uttered daily on the side of the cliff.

Jimbaran Bay

Jimbaran is considered by many to be the best beach in Bali. Several of the destination’s five-star resorts are located here, with scarce options for mid-level or budget accommodation seekers. Safe for swimming, the bay includes ivory sand beaches awash with fresh seafood restaurants. The beach-side sunset is a feast for the eyes. The location is also home to various temples and other local religious activities. While there are an increasing number of small retail outlets and restaurants along the shore, nightlife and entertainment take backstage, making it ideal for those looking to enjoy a more serene experience.

Mount Batur

An active volcano, Mount Batur is located northwest of Mount Agung and rises to an elevation of 1,717 meters. Formed nearly 30,000 years ago, the volcano experienced its most recent eruption in the year 2000. Visitors can trek to the summit of the volcano’s central crater. The surrounding area includes several villages that are heavily reliant on agriculture, which up until recently was their main form of income. The hike to the summit is considered a moderate trek. Early-risers depart in the small hours of the morning to catch a red-molten sunrise from the volcano’s peak.
