Surabaya has various theaters that are dedicated to the arts of Indonesia. Theatrical shows perform music, dance and various theatrics, in tribute to Indonesia’s history and culture. Additionally, the Petra Little Theater, located as part of the Petra Christian University, offers regularly scheduled performing arts content exclusively in English.
Ciputra Hall
The Ciputra Hall is one of Surabaya’s most modern performing arts centers. The main auditorium includes seating for up to 710 people, with a stage area that covers 110 square meters. The acoustics designed in the hall are state-of-the-art, as is much of the available technology used by the various artists that play there. Opened in 2013, the hall plays host to performances by national and local artists. This includes many musical performances by local students and dance groups. In addition to music, the hall also regularly holds performances around local and international dance as well as theatrical entertainment.

Petra Little Theater
The Petra Little Theater is the only college-based theater in Surabaya and offers performances in English. Established in 2013, the theater hosts an assortment of college performances and local events. Visitors can expect to see plays and other dramatic performances, conferences and musical performances. Connected directly to the Petra Christian University, the theater offers exclusive content in English and is the only one in Surabaya to do so. The theater lists its core values as being dedicated to “Artistry, Professionalism, Collaboration, Diversity and Education.”

Community Theater Kaki Langit
The local community theater, known in English as the “Skyline Community Theater”, is dedicated to the performing arts and cultural education. Located in central Surabaya, the theater is home to performances that revolve around the culture of Indonesia. This includes local and national groups that showcase dance, theater and music. In addition to frequent cultural shows, the theater also regularly hosts open Bazaars on site.
