Bandung’s religious venues, though diverse, are most visited when centered around Islam and Roman Catholicism, with several grand structures located within the city. Visitors flock here due to the large-scale constructions, historical tones, and divinity-led architectural designs.
St. Peter’s Cathedral
Initially built in 1895, this Roman Catholic Cathedral is located in Jalan Merdeka. It was designed in a neo-gothic style; however the original building was renovated since reopening in 1922. The church is popular amongst tourists who can stroll beneath its cool-mahogany interior with acoustics designed to reach heaven. Amongst the internal décor is a baptismal chamber to the left of the churches main entrance. The services are generally conducted in Bahasa, although many foreign tourists frequent the church to explore or attend mass.
